I wrapped this piece of agatized chrysocolla in copper recently, and I keep finding new details every time I look at it. What first caught my eye were all the tiny copper-colored flakes scattered throughout the stone. They sparkle just enough to stand out without overpowering the softer colors around them. It almost looks like someone sprinkled little bits of metal through the stone before it formed.

Agatized chrysocolla is created when silica-rich minerals gradually replace the original chrysocolla, preserving its beautiful colors while giving it the durability and polish of agate. The result is a stone that's both earthy and full of character.

I wrapped this one in copper wire because it felt like the perfect match for those metallic flecks hidden throughout the stone. The warm copper tones seem to pull them right to the surface.

This is one of those pieces that doesn't shout for attention, but the longer you look at it, the more interesting it becomes. Nature packed a lot of detail into this little stone, and I had a lot of fun turning it into a pendant.
