I just finished wrapping this fluorite in copper, and the color zoning in this piece is what really makes it special. You get those soft bands of purples and greens layered together in a way that feels almost like looking into stacked glass.
 
Fluorite is known for its wide range of colors and natural banding, formed as mineral-rich water slowly deposits layers inside open spaces in rock. It’s one of those minerals that can look completely different depending on how it’s cut—sometimes clear and glassy, other times richly saturated.
 
I wrapped it entirely by hand in copper wire, letting the warm tones of the metal contrast with the cool, shifting colors of the stone. The copper gives it a slightly rustic, earthy feel that really complements fluorite’s natural translucence.
