I just finished wrapping this green and white Frogskin agate in sterling silver, and it has such a quiet, natural beauty to it. The stone shows soft green mottling against creamy white chalcedony, with that distinctive speckled “frogskin” pattern.
 
Frogskin agate is found in the Mount Rainier region of Washington, formed in volcanic environments where silica-rich fluids slowly filled cavities in ancient lava flows. Over time, trace minerals created those organic green inclusions, giving each piece its own unique, unpredictable patterning.
 
Much of the gem material found around Mount Rainier is the result of ancient volcanic activity in the Cascade Range, meaning stones like this Frogskin agate are essentially tiny snapshots of the region’s volcanic past preserved in chalcedony.
